Serving the people of Southwestern Alaska, the Yukon-Kuskokwim Hospital is a 50-bed general acute care medical facility. Fully accredited by JCAHO, services include adult med/surg, pediatrics, obstetrics, emergency room, as well as outpatient family medicine clinics, pharmacy, lab, and imaging.
Assist the Director in Planning and developing current and future capitol projects. Position will be involved in all aspects of developing, funding and marketing capital projects. Maintain database, records of all projects and properties, plans, specs, leases, plats, etc. The incumbent formulates, develops, coordinates, and finalizes capital projects policies and procedures, quality assurance programs, and safety standards. The incumbent will also ensure compliance with established Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation (YKHC) missions and goals, department policies, procedures, goals and objectives. The incumbent coordinates and participates in the formulation, development, implementation, evaluation, and closeout phases of all new and on-going construction projects within the Capital Projects department. The incumbent monitors and provides feedback to Capital Projects Director on all construction and special projects assigned. The incumbent will research project requirements, develop and implement required reports relevant to capital projects. The incumbent will provide technical assistance to other YKHC department, village or traditional councils, and other outside agencies relating to capital projects. Act as liaison between YKHC Capital Projects and Construction office and other agencies, both internal and external to YKHC, to address project specific needs, identify challenges/problems, and negotiate resolutions. The incumbent will participate in administrative, construction, planning, execution, and evaluation staff meetings as they pertain to Capital Projects and Construction. Enhance professional personal growth through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in the construction and building improvements involving health care. The incumbent will secure site control documentation in form of a deed of trust or a long-term lease to grant writing resource center for grant requests to State of Alaska, Federal government, and other funding agencies. The incumbent will also record documents as required. The incumbent will research and establish adequate environmental and archeological review documentation for village construction to satisfy grant requirements. Incumbent is expected to work independently, find and solve routine to difficult problems, and take necessary steps to assure efficient progress of projects. The incumbent may supervise college interns and/or administrative clerks assigned to Capital Projects office. The incumbent will perform other related duties as may be assigned or as required by workload, special projects, or during absence of personnel.
High School diploma or equivalent. Preferred (2) year’s business college or equivalent; or completion of Administrative Assistant program. Four (4) years experience with office procedures. Prior experience in construction contracting environment mandatory. Valid Alaska Driver’s License. Computer Skills, word processing, excel, filing, dictation, data entry, spreadsheet, AutoCAD preferred. Must be highly organized and self-motivated. Must have a working knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance or other environmental requirements for state and federal construction projects.
